What this assumes

The day-count tests, the ₹15 lakh Indian-income rules and deemed residency, as carried into the Income-tax Act, 2025. Tax is on Indian income only, in the new regime, with no rebate for non-residents. Interest on NRE deposits is tax free and is not Indian income here. Working remotely for a foreign company while living in India makes you a resident, taxed on all of it.
